Overview

Punjabi Dhaba, located off US-59 in Livingston, TX, is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine. Despite its unassuming exterior inside a gas station, the restaurant offers a clean and inviting space that serves as a perfect setting to experience traditional Punjabi flavors. The ambiance feels warm and welcoming, making it suitable for both casual diners and groups looking to savor genuine Indian dishes.

The menu centers around classic Punjabi staples that immediately transport you to the vibrant streets of northern India. Notably, the Butter Chicken stands out with its rich, creamy tomato-based sauce balanced by a subtle blend of spices that are neither overwhelmed nor bland. Paired with their freshly made Butter Naan — soft, chewy, and brushed with melted butter — it creates a satisfying combination that showcases the essence of Punjabi comfort food.

Chicken Tikka and the House Salad complement the menu’s heartier offerings, delivering freshness and a hint of spice that brighten the palate. For those seeking something more aromatic and hearty, the Chicken Biryani packs layers of fragrance and tender meat, reflecting the intricate balance of spices typical of this celebratory dish.

Customers repeatedly praise the authenticity and generous flavors, highlighting dishes like the Masala Shrimp Fry and flavorful soups such as Hot & Sour Chicken & Veg Soup, which add diversity to the non-vegetarian options. Whether indulging in appetizers or diving into main courses, patrons find the food consistently satisfying and well-prepared.

The staff’s attentiveness and ability to accommodate larger groups further enrich the dining experience, creating a space where sharing traditional meals feels natural and inviting. While some note minor preferences regarding spice levels or portion sizes, these points do little to detract from the overall appeal. Guests often return, drawn by the menu’s depth and heartfelt execution.

It’s an ideal stop for travelers on US-59, locals craving genuine Punjabi cuisine, and anyone eager to explore rich, spiced flavors delivered with simplicity and care. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! East Texas has so little variety but we were skeptical because of the gas station lol but omg, this place is AWESOME. I had the palak paneer and hubby had the butter chicken, we also ordered garlic and plain naan among with Limca (we ordered extra Limca to take home). The food was delicious and plentiful. We asked for medium spicy which was not nearly spicy enough so we're gonna go hotter next time. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, if you like even basic curry you should definitely give it a try.

Okay lemme tell yall something. We have been waiting to try this restaurant. We pass by quarterly but always on a Sunday when they are closed. I had the opportunity to finally stop today. I ordered the garlic naan and a spicy curry chicken. The was perfect. The curry chicken I thought could have had a thicker sauce but that's just my preference. But lemme tell you the spice didn't disappoint. The flavor was great. Was disappointed on portion of chicken but ill get back to this post when we dine in its almost 2 hours from home but we will definitely be back.

An unexpected surprise. I drive past this restaurant almost daily, and I finally decided to give it a try. It doesn't look like much from the outside, kind of a dingy gas station, but inside the restaurant portion is clean and inviting. The staff was welcoming, and the food smelled wonderful. I wanted to try everything. The Veg Samosas were flaky and filling. The house curry. Chicken was perfectly spiced. The garlic naan was delicious and light. And the chai hit the spot. I truly enjoyed my lunch, and will come again.

A great hidden gem along 59. Best chicken tikki masala I ever had and I lived in India for 4 years. It is attached to a run down gas station but the restaurant is kept very clean. The only negative is they share the bathroom with the gas station which was the opposite of clean.

The food was wonderful. We ordered ahead for take out. Absolutely loved the Butter chicken spicy, Samosas, and Garlic naan. Fair price, good portions. Can't say much about the service other than the food was ready, warm, and the Lady that rung us up was friendly and fast! This will be a regular spot for us in the future.
